Itinerary Details

Day 1 Drive from Delhi to Rishikesh ( 225 kms)

Morning drive to Rishieksh. Approx 6 hours drive will take you to the city of temples. Check in at the hotel. Later visit the most interesting places . Rishikesh is located some 24 km north of Haridwar on the right bank of the Ganga, surrounded on three sides by the Himalayan ranges. Legend has it that God revealed himself to Raibhaya Rishi as Hrishikesh, after long penance and this sacred spot was henceforth known as such. A renowned centre of Yoga discipline and learning, Rishikesh is dotted with shrines and ashrams. Some 5 km away is the famous temple of Laxman Jhoola, dedicated to Laxman, the brother of Lord Ram, where he is believed to have performed penance. Rishikesh is also the starting point of several treks and pilgrimages to the holy shrines of Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath and Badrinath.

Evening you may go to Laxman Jhullah and further walk up to Parmarth Niketan to witness the Aarte ceremony at the time of Sun set. Back to hotel for dinner and overnight.

Day 2 Drive to Guptakashi ( 175 Kms)

After breakfast ion the morning start drive around 7.30 AM to reach at Guptakashi towards Badrinath highway. Stop at Devprayag which is approx 70 Kms from Rishieksh to se the confluence of River Bhagirathi coming from Gangotri and Alaknanda from Badrinath. Cross the river Bhagirathi and Continue drive along with the river Alaknanda and its right bank.

In Kirtinagar you need to cross the bridge over Alaknanda and follow the left bank. You will enter the biggest town in Garhwal called Srinagar which is my native place as well and situated at a span of nearly 10 Kms. After driving 30 Kms from Srinagar you will arrive at Rudraprayag which is another religious destination being the confluence of Alalknanda and mandakini river coming from kedarnath. Take the left turn and follow river Mandakini to reach at Guptakashi. Should you need to visit the ancient temple at Guptakashi you need to walk upwards nearly for 15 minutes to reach at the Guptakashi village and witness the ancient temple? This is believed that Lord Shiva gave his presence to Pandavas at this place in a hidden formed that why name of this place is Gupta - Kashi

Day 3 Drive to Gaurikund and Trek to Kedarnath ( 1 hour Drive + 14 Kms trek)

Morning drive to Gaurikund, Need park your car at right location and visit hot spring sulfer water called Gauri Kund. Take your towel and under garments with you and essential stuff to carry at Kedarnath. Have a holi dip and prayer at Gauri Ganesh Temple and start trek to Kedarnath ji fro 14 Kms.

Should you need to take a horse / doli can be arranged at the association counter in prepaid fix rate basis. Approx 5- 6 hours trek will take you to this divine place. Trail is good and no problem to walk. Keep yourself in left or mountain side while walking upwards.

Arrive at Kedarnath and check in at your hotel / Ashram / Tourist bungalow Evening visit the shrine and witness Aarte ceremony. Please be there before hand to reserve your perfect place. There are some provisions to get the pre ticket to reserve the seats at the front and can be arranged yourself in advance at the temple by giving some fix donations.

Back to the hotel and you may have your dinner at any nice restaurant nearby. Overnight at hotel.

Kedarnath : The Kedarnath shrine, one of the 12 jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva, is a scenic spot situated, against the backdrop of the majestic Kedarnath range. Kedar is another name of Lord Shiva, the protector and the destroyer. According to legend, the Pandavas after having won over the Kaurava in the Kurukshetra war, felt guilty of having killed their own brothers and sought the blessings of Lord Shiva for redemption. He eluded them repeatedly and while fleeing took refuge at Kedarnath in the form of a bull. On being followed he dived into the ground, leaving his hump on the surface. The r! emaining portions of Lord Shiva appeared at four other places and are worshipped there as his manifestations. The arms appeared at Tungnath, the face at Rudranath, the belly at Madhmaheshwar and his locks (hair) with head at Kalpeshwar. Kedarnath and the four above-mentioned shrines are treated as Panch Kedar.

Day 4 Trek Kedarnath - Gaurikund & Drive to Joshimath ( 180 Kms)

Early morning after breakfast retrace back to Gaurikund and may take nearly 3 - 4 hours. Get your car and drive to Joshimath. You need to back to Guptakashi and further down to a place called Kund where you need to take the left and your drive will start upwards. You will arrive at a place called Okhimath which is the winter seat of Lord Kedarnath. I must recommend you to visit this village and see the ancient temple which is one of the most beautiful temple and over all divine ambiences.

Continue drive up to Chopta which is the highest point of this road head and famous for its Himalayan Panoramic view. Have a cup of tea and descend by driving through thick forest range of Kedarnath Wildlife centaury famous for Musk deer. Another one hour drive will take you to Gopeshwar which is a small town and district head quarter of Chamoli district. Discend from this place up to chamoli and follow the Alaknanda river again on its left bank up to zig zag road to reach at Joshimath. Your hotel Dronagiri is located at the first arrival of this hill station. Check in and overnight at hotel.

If you have enough time in hand than this is recommended to visit Shakracharya Cave which is on a walkable distance from your hotel. Your manager may assist you to follow the proper route.

Day 5 Drive to Badrinath ( 45 Kms)

Early morning breakfast at the hotel and drive to Badrinath. After couple of Kms ( nearly 2 ) you will reach at the Narsingh temple which is the winter seat of Lord Badrinath ji. Park your car at the right location and quick visit to this temple.

You will find the gate system at this point and this is one way traffic up to the middle of this last patch. Check the timings at your hotel before hand

Drive to Badrinath Check in at your Hotel which is the first hotel on right hand.

Badrinath one of the 'Four Dhams' is one of the most celebrated pilgrimage spots of the country and is situated at an elevation of 3,133 meters, guarded on either side by the two mountain ranges known as Nar & Narayan with the towering Neelkanth Peak providing a splendid backdrop. This revered spot was once carpeted with wild berries. Thus the place got the name "Badri van", meaning "forest of berries".

Tapt Kund :Natural thermal springs on the bank of the river Alaknanda, where it is customary to bathe before entering the Badrinath temple.

Narad Kund :A recess in the river, near Tapt Kund, forming a pool from where the Badrinath idol was recovered.

Brahama Kapal :A flat platform on the bank of river Alaknanda. Hindus perform proppitiating rites for their deceased ancestors.

Sheshnetra :1.5kms. away is a boulder having an impression of the legendary serpent, better known as the Sheshnag's eye.

Charanpaduka :3kms. away is a beautiful meadow where the footprint of Lord Vishnu is seen on a boulder.

Mata Murty Temple :Devoted to the mother of Sri Badrinathji. Other important temples include Sesh Netra Temple, Urvashi Temple and Charanpaduka.

Mana Village : Inhabited by an Indo-Mongolian tribe, it is the last Indian village before Tibet.

Vasundhara :As the name suggests, vasundhara is a magnificent water fall. This place is 5 kms. from Badrinath out of which 2 kms. is motorable upto Mana.

Bhim Pul :On the other side of Mana village, a massive rock forming a natural bridge, lies over the roaring Saraswati river. It presents a spectacular view of water thundering down through the narrow passage under the rock and is believed to have been placed there by Bhim, the second eldest among the five Pandava brothers.

Vyas Gufa (cave) :Near Mana Village, this is a rock-cave where Ved Vyas is believed to have composed the Mahabharata and the pauranic commentaries.

Day 6  Drive Badrinath - Rudraprayag ( 160 Kms)

Should you need to visit temple again than you need to wake up early morning and back to the hotel for breakfast and dive back to Rudraprayag.

Vishnu Prayag - Joshimath - Pipalkoti - Nand Prayag - karnaprayg and finally you will reach at Rudraprayag. Check in at your hotel and overnight stay.

Day 7 Drive Rudraprayag to Haridwar ( 160 Kms)

After breakfast drive back to Haridwar for nearly 5 hours. Check in at the hotel and evening witness the Aarte ceremony at Har Ki Pauri. Spend the night at this place

Day 8 Drive haridwar to Delhi ( 200 Kms)

Morning check out and drive back to Delhi. Approx 6 hours drive will take you to the capital and you will be dropped at railway station / Airport.
